Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon install-fest of 1

(tags Linux)

I am installing Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon" right now. :-)

Of course, only into a virtual machine. I am using it at work as one of my work environment, and I like what I see. I need to learn more about the Smart Common Input Method (SCIM), because its defaults slow me down when typing in Japanese. Perhaps there really is some worth in buying the ATOK IME for Linux, that or I need to ween myself off of Microsoft IME.

On the release day or pretty close to that, I tried out the Ubuntu Server edition, but it did not install properly inside a VMWare Server instance. I really did want to try that to learn about encryption and LVM. There's so much about Linux distros that I need to learn. My toy Gentoo environments are console-based, so I'm missing out on the Linux Desktop Way.
