My hero: Tsutomu "Idol chaser" Nakamura

(tags otaku, culture, Japan, Akihabara, fanatic, idol)

Kotaku's post "Meet the Super Otaku" points to a swiped video documentary of Tsutomu "Idol Chaser" Nakamura (中村勉) in his native element, Akihabara. This 40-year-old has sweet technique that puts other Idol Otaku to shame. He buys two copies of swimsuit idol DVDs to meet and snap pictures with them at their live introduction events, but not only that, he has trademark dance and greet moves.

My hobbies and interests are different (I'm definately 2-D instead of 3-D). My budget is vastly more amateur than his, but I'd like to say I wish I could be like him, completely and seriously devoted to my hobby. He's my hero! Ha! On the other hand I think he's a total freak-a-noid and I don't ever want reach his level. Ha!

Related to the Savage Genius post, the Joshin/Disc Pier in Nipponbashi uses the same live concert event space for idol events as well. I wasn't really aware of Nipponbashi idol events, though, but I'm not going to be looking out for it, no no.
